Artist Statement:

I belong to Christ Jesus.

A quiet ruckus. Liss Elizabeth Skariah is a professional visual artist. Her grandmother taught her to begin each day with prayer, and that quiet whisper was about unceasing prayer and guarding her education — being prudent and vigilant, that she might become a woman of grace. Her discipline includes trusting in God, over and over again.

Her foundation is both formal training and self-teaching. The recipient of numerous artistic accolades and a winner across multiple disciplines, her formation runs deeper than credentials — years of active participation in art, acting, dance, and movement, alongside studies in film appreciation and art history. Each discipline informs the next, weaving into a singular artistic voice.

Liss began as a child prodigy in watercolor painting and pastel blending, then went on to study portraiture and hyper-realistic shading. Her body of work holds a number of excellent portraits, and today she has returned to her first love — the watercolor creative process. She is generous and joyful in her artistic endeavor and her legacy.

In all of it, she magnifies God in Jesus Christ as the giver of all good things. Her failures and desolation remind her of a God who sees — a God who provides — a God who is love. Her successes and victories remind her that her true treasure is not the things of this world, but that she belongs to Jesus Christ: a song of songs, a hymn of all hymns, a psalm of all psalms.

She is always creating. She is a Christian artist, attentive to consistency and daily practice rather than outcome.

"I belong to Jesus Christ. Into your hands, I commit my spirit."
